Sharing is Caring – Form 4 Literature Component

When the Curriculum Development Division came out with a new set of texts for the Literature Component in 2010, they also came up with some materials to help ease teachers into teaching the new syllabus.

Here, I have compiled all of the “official” notes, so to speak, for the Form 4 Literature Component including the poems, short stories and drama. In general, these notes consist of a brief introduction into the different literary genres, synopsis of the texts, LOTS of classroom activities (with ready-to-print handouts & worksheets plus answer keys) and assessment tasks (with ideas for projects/portfolios as well as general comprehension questions). So for those of you who are new to teaching the Literature Component or new to the subject itself, fret not because most of your homework has already been done for you courtesy of the Ministry. Just download from below and teach away!

Poetry – In the Midst of Hardship & He Had Such Quiet Eyes

Short story – QWERTYUIOP

Short story – The Fruitcake Special

Drama – Gulp and Gasp

*These notes are for Form 4. I will upload the notes for the Form 5 texts next week.

**These files are hosted here on WordPress itself so you do not need to log into any sharing sites to download them. Leave a comment if you have any trouble downloading the files. Also, the notes are in the pdf format so you will need the Adobe Reader software to be able to open them.

***Note to students/parents: While these notes are originally meant for teachers, I believe they will be useful for self study as well so do have a look at them.
